Deep Horizons was inspired by the approach to the Rio Grande Gorge in Taos, NM. When you first approach the bridge, the landscape is flat and you are unaware of the spectacular gorge cutting into the earth 650 above the Rio Grande River.
This painting was created by layering luscious oil paints, oil sticks and cold wax on a cradled birch panel. All these elements come together beautifully and then the painting is framed in an antiqued gold float frame.
