Spring in Santa Fe, NM
I made it back to Santa Fe friends. I’ve been here just a month now, and will be here through July. I’ve been painting my heart out, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. It’s been a wonderful time, even though some days the weather has not cooperated. We’ve had beautiful warm, sunny days followed by some cold, windy days with snow flurries. I’ll take them all as long as I can see the beautiful mountains when I stroll down Canyon Road.
I brought my oil paints along for this trip. I learned last year that acrylics just dry too fast for the kind of painting I like to do. And, I’m finding that I love the feel and texture of oil and having fun experimenting with them and pushing my limits every day.
I’m working on 12 x 12 size paintings on cradled birch panels using oil and cold wax. This technique comes in handy when I’m back in Florida as it helps the oil paintings dry faster. Here are some of the paintings I’ve completed.
For more information on any of these paintings, simply click the button below.
I’ve also been working on a series of mini oil paintings. They’re 6 x 6 inches on archival gessobord. I’m really happy with the way they turning out, and can’t wait for them to dry so I can have them framed. I’ll let you know when they’re available in my shop. I’ve got some tweaking left on a couple, so I’ll share photos in my next post.
Thank you for your continued support friends. If you know of someone who might enjoy my artwork, I would be honored if you shared this blog with them. And, if your friend makes a purchase from your referral, there will be a little something in it for you!!
May 2019 continue to brighten your lives with color.
