Gratitude, Grace & Giving

thanksgivingquote.jpg

Dear friends,

I have started my gratitude list for Thanksgiving week, something I do every year to reflect on the blessings of the year. And, I want you to know I count you among my many blessings. I am thankful for your kindness. I am thankful for the sharing of my art with friends and family. I am thankful for my collectors whose purchases allow me to continue painting. I am thankful for your daily company on social media. I would not be where I am today without God’s grace and your support.

May this Thanksgiving week find you counting the many blessings of this season of love, giving and sharing.

If you’ll be doing a little “giving” this holiday season, might I recommend a visit to my website, Fine Art Amercia shop or my VIDA fashion shop? I’m sure you’ll find that something special for yourself or someone on your gift list. From artwork to wearable art and home decor, I have you covered.

Spring Beauty

Inspired by all the spring flowers blooming in the local nurseries I felt I must capture this feeling on canvas. I haven't painted florals in a while, but this one was inside my head waiting to come out. My own garden was in much need of some tender loving care, so after I finished this piece I actually started the spring clean up in my own backyard.  Amazing what inspires you to begin a task.

This painting began the usual way, with a textured canvas and acrylic paints. But, then I picked up some oil pastels from our local Blick art supplies store (I'd been swooning over them for a while). I painted the canvas with acrylic paints and applied the oil pastels over certain areas to really "pop" the piece.

So, now you can guess that I am in love with using oil pastels over acrylic. I love to experiment and play with new painting "tools". This is one I'm truly going to enjoy exploring.

If you love this painting, the original is available along with reproductions on paper, canvas, and many other products. Here are just a few of the ways you can enjoy this painting in your home.  For more information on any of these products, just click on the image to visit my Fine Art America shop.

Thanks so much for taking time to view my art, and for your continued support friends. Until next time.

Blessings my friends, your artist Mary

There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so he has first to forget all the roses that were ever painted.

Pinch Me, I think I'm Dreaming

Pinch Me, I think I'm Dreaming

Just a little over two years ago I found my true passion ....painting.  I'm a 50 something wife, grandmother and now artist.  I only began my artist journey a couple years ago after retiring from the corporate world.  With no prior art training I had this burning desire to paint and time to pursue my dream.

With dozens of exhibitions and shows under my belt during the past year I now have my first of two solo shows coming up and I am so excited.  The first will be September 15, 2016 at The Bunker in Ybor City.  The second is at the historic Rialto Theatre in Tampa in January 2017.

I have been busy selecting the paintings to exhibit for The Bunker show and getting them ready for hanging (i.e. making sure they're varnished, signed and wired for hanging).  I have to thank my husband for taking care of all the wiring duties.  He'll also be assisting me with hanging the first show.  He truly supports my art and I am so very grateful for that!

I am so excited with all the new products available through my Fine Art America shop.  In addition to the throw pillow, duvet covers, shower curtains and tote bags they now have fabulous beach towels, weekender bags, carry-all pouches and much more. Dozens of designs to choose from.  Here's just a sampling friends.

If you'd like more information on any of these products, simply visit my Fine Art America shop by click here.  And, these items make wonderful gifts for friends and family!

I am so blessed to be able to paint every day and have such wonderful fans and collectors all over the country. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement as I continue my journey to "paint the colors of my soul".  I still feel like I am dreaming!!

Wishing you all the best my friends,  Mary
