I've had a fascination with hummingbirds since my first visit to New Mexico decades ago. City life in Florida doesn't afford much opportunity to see these glorious, beautiful creatures. I was blessed about a year ago with a hummer sighting in my back garden. The visit lasted only a couple days, no doubt on his migration back to parts unknown. But in the 40 years I've lived in my Florida home, this was the first time I'd ever seen a hummingbird in my garden. You can't imagine my excitement!
Hummingbird in Mary's garden
The above photo is not great as I was using my cell phone and zooming in from my about 25 feet away so I wouldn't scare the little guy. He was snacking from my Fire Spike plant. He came to visit the garden in the mornings and I was so lucky to get this shot.
“Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. Hummingbirds open our eyes to the wonder of the world and inspire us to open our hearts to loved ones and friends. Like a hummingbird, we aspire to hover and to savor each moment as it passes, embrace all that life has to offer and to celebrate the joy of everyday. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.”
Thanks so much for taking time to visit me friends. I welcome your comments so please feel free to post one. If you are lucky enough to see hummingbirds, remember to savor the moment and celebrate life.
Wishing you many blessings ~~ Mary
